A Christmas Carol Musical: Ebenezer is a fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic holiday tale. This musical reimagines the story with vibrant songs, breathing new life into the timeless narrative. Follow the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge from a miserly curmudgeon to a benevolent soul, guided by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come with a unique musical twist, blending traditional and original compositions to enhance the emotional depth and festive spirit of the story. Ideal for audiences of all ages, it celebrates the themes of redemption and generosity with a lively and heartwarming theatrical experience.

MATERIALS & REQUIREMENTS:
Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before start time and stay until the end time. Early arrival ensures parking and time for paperwork.
Audition Materials will be available in the drop-box outside the theater door at least 2 weeks before audition dates. Please only take one copy of the role(s) you are auditioning for. Auditions will include singing and reading auditions.
Please be prepared with sheet music or a track, no more than 32 bars of song. Christmas Carols and traditional songs are acceptable.

ADULTS:
Ebenezer Scrooge (Male Presenting – 50+): A wealthy but miserly old man, Scrooge is infamous for his disdain for Christmas and his harsh treatment of those around him. He is rigid, solitary, and focused solely on his financial gains. Over the course of the story, Scrooge undergoes a profound transformation as he encounters the spirits of Christmas, rediscovering his capacity for kindness and generosity.
Bob Cratchit (Male Presenting – 20+): Scrooge’s underpaid and overworked clerk, Bob Cratchit is a kind and devoted family man. Despite his meager salary and Scrooge’s harsh treatment, Bob remains optimistic and loving. His family, especially his ill son Tiny Tim, is his greatest source of joy and hope, and his humility and warmth contrast sharply with Scrooge’s coldness.
Fred (Male Presenting – 20+):
[May double as Teacher, Undertaker’s Man, Ensemble] Scrooge’s cheerful and good-natured nephew, Fred embodies the spirit of Christmas and family. Despite Scrooge’s cold reception of his holiday greetings, Fred remains optimistic and persistent in inviting his uncle to join in the festivities. His warmth and unwavering kindness highlight the contrast between his character and Scrooge’s initial attitude.
Young Ebenezer (Male Presenting - 16 to 25):
[May double as Newspaper Seller, Christmas Yet to Come, Ensemble] A younger version of Ebenezer, learning from Mr. Fezziwig and finding his way through the world.
Marley’s Ghost (Male Presenting – 20+):
[May double as Jacob, Stuffed Shirt, Ensemble] Scrooge’s former business partner, Marley is now a tormented spirit bound in heavy chains as punishment for his greed and selfishness in life. He appears to warn Scrooge of his impending fate and to urge him to change his ways. Marley's haunting appearance and message set the stage for Scrooge's transformative journey.
Christmas Past (Female Presenting – 20+):
[May double as Mrs.Cratchit, Ensemble] A gentle, ethereal spirit who represents the memories and experiences of Scrooge’s earlier years. This ghost is both a guide and a reminder of Scrooge’s past, showing him scenes from his childhood and youth that evoke nostalgia and regret. The spirit is often depicted as a child-like figure or an old person with a youthful appearance.
Christmas Present (Female Presenting – 20+):
[May double as Ensemble] A jolly and robust spirit who embodies the joy and abundance of the current Christmas season. The Ghost of Christmas Present is lively, generous, and filled with good cheer, revealing to Scrooge the warmth and happiness present in the lives of others, particularly the Cratchit family.
Caroline (Female Presenting – 20+):
[May double as Jacob’s Date, Ensemble] Fred’s warm and gracious wife, embodying the spirit of kindness and hospitality. She is a gentle and supportive presence, actively involved in the festive celebrations and the welcoming atmosphere of the family home. Clara is known for her charm, wit, and a genuine affection for Fred’s family and friends.
Belle (Female Presenting - 16 to 25):

Scrooge’s former fiancée, Belle represents the love and happiness Scrooge sacrificed in his pursuit of wealth. Her character serves as a poignant reminder of what Scrooge lost due to his obsession with money, and her presence in his past highlights the personal cost of his choices.
